My studio in Northampton is very busy. I am a busy photographer but that does not mean I do not have time to help out my fellow photographer. Darren contacted me via my facebook page asking for some help to improve his photography. He had experience but lacked confidence. So I created a custom photography training session. I opened up my studio and hired it out to him along with my on hands tuition. We spent two glorious hours working together and perfecting techniques to help him capture his images better. Having the chance to use professional studio lighting really boosted his confidence. We used his lovely partner as our model and worked on rules of composition (and breaking them) angles and posing. Her outfit choice was fantastic. They are both hugely into their history and dress accordingly. Emma even makes the costumes. How impressive?!

We also moved outside to work with natural light as this is the type of lighting Darren mostly used. I showed him how to bend the light, create drama and using filters/reflectors to manipulate the light. We talked over basic kit, how to substitute kit and use the surroundings to help him. I showed him how to change his camera to suit his environment and make it work for him. Namely putting it into manual.

The day wrapped up and all in all it was a fantastic day.
